About Us

Everyday millions of litres of water from our largest lake flow down our longest river into the Tasman. Through fisheries, farmland, forests, wetlands and urban centres, across the Lake Taupō and Waikato River Catchment.

Meanwhile, the Waipā river (and catchment) begins its journey in the Rangitoto Range, before joining the Waikato at Ngāruawāhia.

This precious water is hugely important taonga, passing through and nourishing a significant part of Aotearoa New Zealand. It’s been a vital and spiritual source for iwi over many centuries.

If we look after it properly it will remain so for all of us for centuries to come.
